Digital transmissionElectronic data transmission is the future for International Trade.  Recent studies have indicated that as much as 1 day can be taken out of the supply chain if all parties are able to handle data in this way, representing very significant savings for businesses where delivery times are important.

The UNeDocsUK "Digital Paper" project, sponsored by SITPRO (part of the UK Department of Trade and Industry), is leading the way in this area.  The project defines XML schemas for a wide range of standard documents which are accepted by a growing number of supply chain trading partners.  These electronic documents are aligned with the UNeDocs initiative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

In addition to the XML schemas, the UNeDocsUK project also includes Stylesheets and Transformation templates so that the XML files for all of the above document types can be viewed on-screen and/or printed to the standard UN Layout Key if required.
